Camping or Day Trip

The 2020 Munsee Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) will take place at the Scout Camping Area in the Watchung Reservation

Information for All

You can choose to camp for the weekend (Fri 10/16 - Sun 10/18) or attend just for the day on Saturday 10/17. Any who are looking to just attend Sunday, please let us know in an email (jota@MunseeBSA.org) as most of our activities will be Saturday, Sunday being dedicated to clean up. The fee for either weekend or day visitor covers lunch on Saturday.

There will be several activities open during the day, all the stations that are also open to Scouts BSA will also have Cub Scout level programming, including knots, maps and compass, leave no trace. The Learning Center is also open the weekend of JOTA, as are the trails. Remember this weekend is designed to have fun together- so fill your day however you feel it will be best used.

Parking & Sign-in

After 10:00 AM on Saturday cars will not be allowed down the driveway to the Scout Area. Cars should park at the in the Trailside parking lot and follow the trail to the Scouting Area. On Friday and Sunday, cars will be allowed down the driveway to drop off an pick up. You should still park overnight in the Trailside parking lot. Only staff will be allowed to park in the Scouting Area.

Sign-in will be available at the first pavilion (to the left of the flag poles). All attendees should sign-in when they arrive. Campers, please sign in prior to finding your camping spot. On site registration and payment will also be available.

Day Trip Only

Saturday activities will begin at 11 am. All units will have a timeslot for using the Radio stations. Scouts BSA who are working on Radio Merit Badge will have a separate timeslot if not all within the unit are participating. At sign in, please let us know which day time merit badge you will be working on. Radio is an all day MB, so keep that in mind when choosing. Plan to arrive no earlier then 8 am on Saturday October 19th.

Merit Badges available for the weekend include Radio, Signs, Signals and Codes, and Pioneering(partial).

Activities available for all Scouts will include knots, map and compass, outdoor ethics and leave no trace. Any rank requirements that scouts need to accomplish, can be made available this weekend. Just make sure if you are coming as an individual, you keep track of what you have done and your Scoutmaster or Senior Patrol Leader are aware.

Camping

Cubs and Scouts may camp overnight Friday and Saturday. This will allow for additional time to work on merit badges and other Scout skills.

Camping Notes

  • All Scout BSA members All units are responsible for their meals for breakfast and dinner. Talk to other Packs and Troops, as most of us are open to a shared potluck arrangement the weekend.
  • All units may arrive Friday night any time after 6 pm and before 10 pm. There will be a sign in table at the first pavilion. Please stop there prior to finding your camping spot.
  • You will have to share picnic table and pavilions with other units
  • You will have to share fire pits with other units
  • No ground fires outside of designated fire pits
  • You will not be able to drive "into" camp after dusk on Friday or before noon on Sunday
